Tomi Swick is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Hamilton, Ontario formerly signed to Warner Music Canada, now signed to Slaight Music.
By age 13, Swick had learned to play several instruments, including the bagpipes, military drums, piano and guitar. At age 19 he began playing in a Hamilton band but soon pursued a solo career. He is a graduate of Cathedral High School. In February 2006, Swick's song "A Night Like This" was released as the first single from the compilation album From the Heart. The single became a top-five radio hit in Canada.
In 2006, Swick released his debut album, Stalled Out in the Doorway, which entered the chart at number 77. The singles "Everything Is Alright" and "Sorry Again" received moderate video play on Much Music and MuchMoreMusic. At the 2007 Juno Awards, Swick was awarded New Artist of the Year. His third album, The Yukon Motel, was released on October 16th, 2016 on Slaight Music.
Annette Haas was born in Kitchener-Waterloo. She moved to Hamilton to attend Mohawk College, studying voice and piano, where she graduated with honours from the Applied Music Program. Annette played with various jazz ensembles, including “November Nights” jazz quartet, “The Annette and Shawn Jazz Duo”, “The Harry Waller Big Band”, and “The Harold Namaro Jazz Ensemble”. In 1992, after just picking up the guitar, Annette met Adam Ostrosser and not long after the “Adam and Annette” duo was created.
Currently, you can find her around southern Ontario playing solo in many different venues, from fine dining restaurants to small pubs and patios, house parties, weddings and funerals, as well as playing with Adam Ostrosser, Tomi Swick, and various amazing musicians in the Hamilton area. She is also now the bass player for rising country star, Brad James.
Marco Bresette is a long time bass player in the Hamilton Area. Formerly a part of a Canadian heavy metal band, Threat Signal. Threat Signal was formed in the late summer of 2003 by cousins Jon and Rich Howard. In August 2005 Marco Bresette replaced Eric Papky on bass guitar. After spending the better part of 2004 and 2005 writing and recording demos, the band traveled to Los Angeles, to record with Christian Olde Wolbers of Fear Factory in September, 2005. In November 2005, the band announced they had signed a recording deal with Nuclear Blast records.
Burlington born and raised, Adam Cooke is a multi-instrumentalist that has been a fixture on the GTA music scene for well over a decade. His latest release, "Rock You Down", has garnered positive reviews and has seen Adam in demand as a performer playing regularly in and around Burlington and Hamilton. A self-professed pop fan, heavy rock, reggae and funk influences drive Adam's strong and melodic songwriting. Coupled with a tight and talented band, Adam's original shows are not to be missed.
Mike Daley holds a Ph.D in music from York University and has taught undergraduate courses at Guelph, McMaster, Waterloo and York Universities as well as acclaimed later-life courses at York, University of Toronto, Ryerson, George Brown, Learning Unlimited in Etobicoke and Later Life Learning in Mississauga. Mike has published scholarly articles on American popular music in international journals and has been invited to speak at academic conferences from Normandy to Nashville. Mike Daley is a guitarist and singer based in Toronto. A professional musician for over 30 years, Mike has toured Canada, the United States and England and has recorded extensively in a variety of musical styles.
Chris Chambers is a veteran musician and songwriter, having performed for over 20 years. As a solo artist, Chambers has released two independent records and toured throughout Canada and Europe including regular appearances in Toronto and Montreal, along with dates in New York, California and Austin Texas. A seasoned session musician, Chambers has also performed on numerous independent releases and worked alongside notable producers such as Nick Blagona (The Police, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd). He has written for Volkswagen Canada, providing the music for an Internet ad campaign. Currently Chris is splitting his time between his independent projects and working as a sideman in the GTA for both live performance and session work as a studio musician. Ancaster Mill is thrilled to have him use our venue. He also draws cartoons and loves speaking in the third person. One time he hugged James Burton.
